Anthem HealthKeepers Plus is a health insurance plan that offers comprehensive coverage to individuals, families, and small businesses in Virginia. It provides access to a broad network of doctors and hospitals, and it offers a variety of benefits, including preventive care, prescription drugs, mental health and substance abuse services, and more.
Anthem is a well-known brand in Virginia, and they have been offering health insurance plans for over 30 years. When they started, it was called Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Virginia. Today, they offer several different types of coverage to give people the flexibility to choose what works best for them and their families. They provide access to more than 75,000 doctors and 1,330 hospitals across the state through their broad network.
Anthem offers a variety of coverage options for individuals, families, and business owners. The range of policies they provide includes:
Anthem HealthKeepers Plus HSA
This is an HMO type plan where members have to use Anthem providers for most of their medical care. However, it doesn’t require a deductible so there are no out-of-pocket expenses. In addition, there’s a Health Reimbursement Account that reimburses members for certain types of expenses after the money has been deducted from their account.
Anthem HealthKeepers Plus PPO
This is another type of plan where members don’t have to use Anthem providers for all their care. But they do have a deductible before the health insurance company starts covering costs. Like the HSA, there’s also a Health Reimbursement Account that helps with out-of-pocket expenses after certain types of money have been deducted from the member account.
Anthem HealthKeepers Advantage
This plan covers doctor visits and hospital visits on a copay basis. It also has a deductible that you have to pay before the health insurance company starts to cover costs. The plan also covers a wide range of services including:
Doctor visits and hospitalizations on a copay basis.
Preventive care at no extra cost.
Mental health services, substance abuse treatments, and prescription drugs.
Lab tests, x-rays, and diagnostic procedures at a copay.
A HealthKeepers Advantage member has to pay for certain things out of their pocket. The plan doesn’t have a deductible but there are four different types of copays that members may have to pay depending on the service they receive:
A copay of $25 for doctor’s visits. This amount increases if you want to see specialists.
A copay of $50 for outpatient hospital visits. If the doctor admits you as an inpatient, then this amount is waived. You will also have to pay another fee for your room and board.
A copay of $15 for each prescription you get filled at an Anthem pharmacy or other participating providers. This amount increases if it’s for a brand-name drug that has a generic alternative medicine.
A copay of $50 for outpatient mental health and substance abuse services. Certain services are also covered at no cost. For example, you don’t have to pay anything if your child receives inpatient care at a psychiatric facility or residential treatment center.
